On the Nature of Control

On yet another profound conversation with one of my closest friend, we came across the idea of Control and Discipline in life - What it means to be powerless, to be helpless and what to do to have power and control over self and life.

I'd like to take you to a broader aspect of discipline and control, coming from my own personal experiences as an Observer, Public Speaker and Writer. "Like it or not, You and I and everyone around us is always stuck in a never ending game of control", some of us have it figured out, while some of us are constantly on the lookout, here's some personal points i've come across to stay in discipline and control.

1. Be Flexible - Everything and everyone changes, believe in change and you become the change. By being flexible you protect yourself from ever changing life. By failing to adapt and change, you fail to evolve and limit yourself to same sorrows in new forms.

2. Keep Calm - Always strive to stay calm and patient. The moment you let emotions take charge of decisions, you have lost everything. Now you are vulnerable and your behaviour could have the potential to hurt your interests.

3. Actions over Arguments - People only believe what they see, take action, show them otherwise, let them understand by themselves. And you'll have gained not just admiration but also the skill to do the hard things in life.

4. Never Isolate yourself in distress - Many people in times of crisis isolate themselves from the world to focus energy on the distress signal, isolation is dangerous, without information you are left battling without a shield, you never know what might happen.

5. Stay Humble - Try focusing on people's story, make them feel important and heard, even if you are the master at some subject, learn to respect the knowledge other's posses and above all, have humility that you are also human, Remember, it is always trees that hang low that bear fruits, the one's standing tall get hit by lightning.

6. Stay Patient - When you are weak, accept that you lack something, perhaps the situation isn't in your favour, have patience, give it time. Give time to work on yourself and you will come out stronger than before and disarm your struggles easily.

7. Be Bold - If you plan to act, be bold, give your 100%, if you commit a mistake, be bold, accept and correct it, Do the hard things, make the routine, follow it religiously, you will be rewarded with struggles, pain and despair, isolation will be your friend, when you face these things you will realise that they are merely a test of your resolve, to see how serious are you, so be bold! Boldness brings admiration and respect.

8. Master Time - Anticipate the flow of time. Acting impatiently can end relationships, careers, ambitions. Timing opportunities is key to your survival.

9. Never stop learning - Mastering 1-2 things will limit your opportunities, however, learning 10 things will greatly increase your influence, knowledge of the world and increase the amount of people you can meet. Always strive to learn new things, every interaction with the world is an opportunity to learn.

These are a few points i keep with myself, One step taken today will amount to a lifetime's worth of adventure, so when you take your steps, make sure you follow some mantras while you do.
